I filled statistical investigator gr II post in preference list no
21 unintentionally as that time i had no knowledge of it. is it
compulsory for me to attend the statistics paper for it or just not give
it….? i m not eligible for this post(i noticed now), will they reject
me after interview totally for filling it and not giving its paper or
not consider me for this post after i clear tier 2 and had not given the
statistics paper(i m hoping) help me!
Please don’t feel guilty. As you filled statistical investigator
post but you are not eligible for the same. Just do one thing. Don’t
appear for paper 3 i.e. Statistical Investigator.
Go for Paper 1 & 2 in Tier II Exam and do not appear in Paper 3
for Statistical Inv. They will not going to judge your performance.
That’s it. Best of Luck !
Leave rules are same as applicable with all Central Government
Departments. If you would like to go for higher studies, you can apply
for that to your appointing authority. However, there are some
conditions laid down by Leave Rules 50 (1) & (2). According to
which, you must have completed a tenure of atleast 5 years on regular
basis. Along with that, the higher studies you are going to pursue must
be somehow related to your job profile in that department. It must be in
the favour of department and department will be benefitted from your
higher studies in the future by applying your knowledge in the concerned
field.
In which exam, have you qualified ? you should definitely have roll
no. If you don’t have admit card, do check you email. SSC used to sent
email confirmation to the candidates.
Thanks for the info. I want to know more about Assistant, MEA (not
cypher). Please throw some light on the work-life balance(5 or 6
days/week? and working hours) and the type of work involved. Moreover, I
have heard that the foreign postings are optional, I mean it is up-to
us to decide whether to travel abroad or not. Is it true ?
Well, if you want to know about the working hours, it would simply
depend on the time scale defined in one country. It may be different if
compared to other countries.
yes, foreign postings are optional but if the services of an employee
is very much required, you cannot post retention to India only. In such
cases, you need to move and perform your duties.
I have filled my post preference but I had no idea regarding the
posts that time. Will I be able to Re arrange my post preference at a
later stage if i qualify for the interview?
Well, I don’t think there is any such possibility. But while
document verification, SSC may permit the candidates to re-arrange their
posts preferences.
If you look at the result of 2013 CGL, According to cut off
mentioned by SSC, For the post of Assistant in MEA, the minimum marks
was 526.50 out of 700. The last candidate had 526.50 marks for External
affairs.
However, we are expecting some higher cut off in the next cgl i.e.
2015 combined graduate level exam. because vacancies may be less in the
cgl 2015 for the post of MEA assistant.
I just want to know about this assistant of external affairs. Is
there any security that government provide for group c countries like
Libya,Pakistan,iraq
Well, if are fearful of loosing your life in those countries, its
not like that. You will work in Govt Embassies where you will be
assisted with lots of other co-workers. Yes, Govt will take very good
care of yours and so those co-workers too.
You will surely get other securities which are entitled to a govt employee in those countries as well.
As you will be posted with Grade Pay of Rs. 4600/-, while working
in India, You will get same salary as of other 4600 employees i.e.
approx. Rs. 40,000/-.
However, if he is posted in other countries like USA, UK, then, there
salary will hike to a great extent and it could touch approx 1 Lakh.
Basically it depends on the country where one is posted.
how many times is a mea assistant allowed to visit india for
attending to emergency health visits of family(in cases like post kidney
transplant where periodic visits after 4-5 months rotation and
check-ups are routine for life ahead for patient after transplant)? how
many times normally can he travel to home india in 3 years of his
posting? is he able to live comfortably(food, travel, lodging and little
extra expenses-like books, internet or sight seeing) with salary on
enhanced cost of living index according to salary paid in relation to
country of posting? is consideration given to such person(mea assistant
post holder) in regard to old primary family members, parents? are trips
paid by government normally for air travel or one has to bear on own?
Dear Shashi,
If one is having an ill family member like you described above, he
may be allowed to visit India to look after his family members by
applying leave as per Govt Rules. However, it may not be frequently. You
will also get Elite class Medical Facilities for yourself as well as
the dependent family members.
Another way could be that he can easily notify the condition and
emergent situation in written form to his superior officer in the
department where he is posted, with a request to hold the posting in
other countries and get retained in the present office (in India) only.
Please NOTE : There is no COMPULSION to officiate in another countries.
Next, talking about the living condition and facilities in other
countries, well it may depend simply upon where one is posted. If one is
posted in Pakistan, you may be aware that you may not get that kind of
living condition if compared to person posted in USA. But still Govt
will take good care of its employees, Govt will provide every amenities
which are necessary for a Govt Officer.
However, trips will be arranged by Govt itself if the officer is
arriving by following leave rules and leave has been sanctioned by the
concerned superior officer. if leave does not get sanctioned and the
officer is arriving without consultation and intimation to the
department, he has to bear all the charges of traveling.
I hope i am able to clarify most of your doubts. Still have one ? Please go ahead.
thank you. it was sufficiently elaborate.. and opened some new
unknown options and solutions. i’ll see if there arises any question
in future to ask you. thanks genuinely. was helpful, regards.
i need to know that is this position only available for people already working in govt sector?
can a non-govt employee apply for the post of Assistant in Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)?
if so that how?
if not than what is the procedure and steps to be a Assistant in Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)?
Thank u
Hello Lindsey,
There is no such thing that only Govt employees can apply for this
post. There is no such limitation. So, any one whether he is working in
private sector or in Govt Sector (Public sector), he can easily appear
in the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam, which is conducted every year
by SSC (Staff Selection Commission) throughout the centres available in
India.
If you want to appear for Assistant in MEA post, You need to fill up
the application form either offline or online and submit it to SSC.
After that, they will conduct pre exam and after that, if you qualify in
pre exam, you will be asked to appear in Mains exam. If you qualify in
Mains Exam too, you will be asked to appear for Interview.
Once you clear all the stages, you will be allocated a post, based on your merit and your choice of preference.
Hello Prince,
Don’t afraid about Interview. Its just a personality test. They will
simply ask questions from your portfolio, bio-data etc. If you are a
govt employee already, they will ask questions relating to previous job
etc. They want to judge the candidate whether he is able to deal with
public matters.
They may ask about your job preference and why you want to opt them.
What future are you seeing in this job. That’s all kind of questions.
Just be prepare from the ground first. Have confidence and go for it.
sir, you have written above-“Cypher has night shifts also
and has to work for 6 days. A system of 2 days
off and 2 days will be night shift…..so no Sat Sun
like system.”
will you please explain it in detail??…
how is it possible if i work for 6 days in a wweek and get off for 2 days..???
sir,
please elaborate in detail….
Dear Vaibhav Singh,
You will not be granted leave for Sat and Sun unless it is very
emergent. Rather than, you can take leave when other staff will work on
behalf of yours. Yes, there is night shifts as well whenever asked to do
so.
There is some mistake above, it must be 7 days. Thanks for your suggestion.
However, there are instances when you can complete your work by
attending night shifts instead of Saturday and Sunday, because this job
is not like other posts, it requires huge attention and dedication
towards the work. You will not known when and who will ask you to decode
something to grab some important information.
Hope, I clear your doubt. Still have one, please go ahead.
Dear kiran,
Yes there are a lot of perks available to a govt officer in Mea. You
will be living in 3 bhk flat with all amenities available in the house.
Your children can get quality education in universities and schools
available in there. You will be living a very good life compare to other
friends of yours in other departments.
Sir, I am a B.Com. (1989) and diploma holder in Systems Management
from NIIT, aged 45 years. Right now I am doing my own business and
willing to go for service in External Affairs Ministry. Can I have a
chance to fulfill my dream ? If so, guide me for further proceedings.
Thank you.
Sorry saravan…i dont think there will be anything for you now.
Because you are already 45 years…neither we can count you as Central
civilian employee nor you can appear in cgl due to age limit. However
you may try some state govt exam and see whether they can permit you.
Thank you very much sir for your nice reply. But I am regret to
note that I can’t get any official position due to my age factor, I
wish to know, Is there any possible to get any un-official position like
sub-agencies, sub-contract etc. Because I am very much passion to
associate with MEA by any way.
Hello Sir! Nice information.
My query is
1. Whether Assistants (General) need to learn a compulsory foreign language?
2. What is the procedure to resign if one gets a job in Group A posts?
Regards,
Roy
Of course if you have a command on any foreign language…it will be
good for you. Chances that you may be posted to a country of your
choice.
If you wish to resign…the same procedures will be followed. Your
service will be counted if the next job is also with central Govt.
Sir as you must be knowing that 7th pay commission will be
applicable from jan,2016, how much salary will an assistant in MEA
posted abroad may get approx?
Also i want to ask that all.those perks like 3bhk flat in foreign, child
education etc are real in nature? Means i hope these are not just on
papers and on ground level ome has to regret for leaving inspector post.
I am very much attracted by all these perks and will putting this post
as 1st pref. So want to be sure if all these perks are really true in
practical.
Kindly confirm from some authentic source and reply.
A big thanks in advance and your doing a great job with your eminent guidance.
You will surely be getting all these perks. Govt will take very good care of yours.
If you intend to go for this post, you will not going to regret this decision.
sir, thanks for the infos. I wud like to know whether parents can
travel overseas to the country i will be posted, like a free pass. if so
any limit in a year?
The date of reckoning of educational qualification is 1 aug 2015 in
CGL 2015 and since i ll be graduating in june i am eligible. But while
filling the form Online it ask for % in graduation so plz tell me what
should i do as my result is yet to be declared.
Dear sir,
Thanks for sharing the information. central government civilian
employees means what? who will come under this category? what all
companies included? please explain
Central Government Civilian employees are those employees who have
put in minimum 3 years in Central Govt. Service. Once you completed 3
years in any cadre, you can directly apply to other posts under this
quota.
The main benefit for being a Central Govt Civilian employee, is age
relaxation. You can apply for other posts even after normal age
restriction.
DEAR SIR,
I WANT TO KNOW THAT OUT OF CSS AND MEA(GENERAL, NOT CYPHER), WHICH ONE
IS BETTER IN TERMS OF PRMOTION ASPECTS AND FUTURE CAREER GROWTH. TAKING
THESE INTO CONSIDERATIONS, WHICH POST SHOULD I KEEP AS MY FIRST
PREFERNECE (PERMANENT STAY IN DELHI NO CONSIDEARION).
THANKS IN ADVACE
DEAR SIR,
I WANT TO KNOW THAT OUT OF CSS AND MEA(GENERAL, NOT CYPHER), WHICH ONE
IS BETTER IN TERMS OF PRMOTION ASPECTS AND FUTURE CAREER GROWTH. TAKING
THESE INTO CONSIDERATIONS, WHICH POST SHOULD I KEEP AS MY FIRST
PREFERNECE (PERMANENT STAY IN DELHI NO CONSIDERATION).
THANKS IN ADVACE
If you want to stay in Delhi forever, you must go for Assistant in
CSS rather than in MEA. Assistant in CSS is also considered as one of
the most suitable post specially for those who want to stay in delhi as
well as for those who want to study higher i.e. preparation of Civil
services etc.
Well, Sourabh both of them are very good and lucrative posts in
CGL. Promotions are also very good in both the posts. You can go in
either posts of your choice.
I would prefer Assistant in CSS post because promotion is good and permanently stay in India (mostly in Delhi).
Hi Admin,
I highly appreciate you for your inputs. I have some doubts regarding this post i.e Assistant in Ministry of external Affairs.
I wish to stay with my parents in future. Will i be able to take my
parents in Foreign postings. Also the salary seems to be less as
compared to expenses abroad (For eg. In USA one has to take a compulsory
medical insurance). In such cases, how owuld a person sustain with
family over there.
Hello Ankit,
Of course you can take your parents along with you while on foreign
posting. You can better take care of them when they will be with you and
also you can put maximum efforts to your duties. There is hardly any
problem on this.
Regarding Salary, Your salary will be fixed according to the cost of
living in that country. That will hike to a great extent so that you can
fulfill all your needs. Govt will take care of you. You will be
provided a good furnished 3bhk flat with all amenities. It would not be
very difficult to sustain with family.
Sir,
Someone told me that Assistants who working in MEA do not have any
special privilege in taking their parents with them while they are on a
foreign posting. They need to apply for the visa of their parents
through the routine procedure as the parents are not counted as
dependents by the Government of India. Also, the parents can stay with
them in the forign country only for the duration for which they get the
visa and not for the entire 3 years of posting.
Please clarify this doubt that what generally happens with Assistants
in MEA. If someone wants that his parents always stays with him while
he is on a foreign posting even if he is posted in countries like
Pakistan, than is it possible?
And also, Sir please clarify that does Government provides any
facilities to dependent parents. And if Government does not provide any
facility for parents than can the Assistant officer use Medical
insurance facility from any insurance company in that foreign country
for his parents from his own pocket?
Hello sir, I am a 2012 ECE graduate and i have dropped out from MY
MS in USA (San Jose state Univ), will it be a problem in govt jobs as i
am a dropout or will they just go according to marks . will the
interview get effected.
Well Anurag,
I have no idea regarding what procedure they are following for the
candidates studied in USA. For this post, Graduation is must. If you
have completed your graduation then you may be permitted but there will
be questioning in Interview session about your drop out period.
Hello sir, i want to know about the working of mea and cypher mea
and i m a colour blindness candidate, so i can apply for mea or not?
This Job is 3yrs in india and 6yrs in foreign country and after that
what will happen, continue in india or not…( confused) please tell me.
Hello Reshu,
May be you can apply. But i would suggest you to read out the
notification thoroughly. candidates with Colour blindness may not be
considered while medical examination.
Sir i have appeared for last year B.A. currently…results will be
out in june…so before 1st aug 2015 i will be graduate… but while
applying for CGL online….they asked to enter graduation percentage??
What should i do?? I think my aggregate score will around 56-57%
approx….So can i enter that percentage?? Will it matter if im selected
and my info varied from online application…. plz reply sir im worried….
Hello Vikas, your result is awaited. That may not be a big problem.
You just make sure to be graduated and within the age limit at the
time of interview or document verification. Slight change of percentage
does not matter. IF you do not know the exact score, fill up the
approximate score. Make sure do not put higher values than you are
expecting.
Best of Luck !
I would like to ask about MEA assistant
1) Can we surely take our parents, or any brother sisters with us at the expense of government?
2) Can we reach upto Joint Secretary level in MEA?
Because I have heard that CSS is better than MEA compared to promotions aspects
Hello Sumeet,
Yes, you can take your parents along with you while on foreign posting.
Second, chances of getting promoted to the post of Joint Secretary
for a person joining as Assistant is very less. However, you can
consider yourself as one if got promoted quickly. CSS is far better than
MEA in my opinion. Yet, the decision is all yours.
Hello Mayur,
First I want you to read out my other post which will help you a lot about understanding both posts. http://www.anuraglive.in/difference-assistant-css-inspector-income-tax/
However, the difference which I have stated above, is between
Assistant in CSS and Inspector of Income-tax, but that will be suffice
for your understanding.
You will perform all the duties assigned by your superior officer.
Mostly to prepare reports and submit to the higher authorities or do
some clerical work i.e. Letter Drafting, Register Entries.
Dear Viplav,
Double tenure will only be counted in the countries with extreme
danger like libya, Iraq etc. Not all countries will count your tenure as
double. Yes, it is counted for promotion. However, you cannot assume
that you will be placed on the top of the seniority list.
Hi,
Could you please elaborate on the work done by Assistants in the MEA?
Is it interesting work? I read above that it is preparing reports but
what will these reports contain? Also, what is the salary of someone who
is posted in Delhi?
Thank you.
Let me tell you about the clerical work. Its not interesting at
all. There is nothing new. You will do the same work on daily basis.
Forwarding of letters to superior authority on direction of your
officer, Reports, typing work, diary entries. It could be anything. You
cannot expect to be posted in MEA only for reports. You will assist your
officer as demanded.
Salary will be approx 30-35k initially with a GP of 4600/- in Delhi.
Assistant in IB is far different from both the other posts.
Asst in CSS and CVC are similar posts to some extent.
Assistant in IB is an interesting job if you would prefer to opt for.
You will deal with secret operations, confidential information.
generally dedicated to the security of the nation.
Assistant in MEA is a Group B Post as per the notification isued by
DOPT. After Assistant, one will be promoted to the post of Section
Officer, that is also a Group B Post with GP of 4800 Only with a good
feature i.e. you will be termed as Gazetted Officer.
Under secretary with GP of 5400 is a Group A post.
Dear Admin,
Is MEA(not cypher) a 5 day job?..I’m a travel freak and a trekker.So
weekend two day off is the first requirement for me.And coming to the
salary how much one can save on an average,i know it varies from person
to person, but i ask this because i have no idea of what all will one be
paid for by the govt.
Resignation can be given anytime or is there any bond?
Sravani,
You are thinking too much. Just be calm and relax. Yes it is a 5 day
job. I have no idea regarding the working time in other countries if you
posted to.
Salary will be enough for living a good lifestyle. I am not saying
high class lifestyle. But one can go very well with the salary and perks
paid by government.
1.what is number of seats in mea(general ) and css in the departmental exam (for promotion)?
2. what is best choice in terms of reputation .
3.what is the power facalities of under secetary in css
Hello Sir,
I understand that you have stated the cut off would be in the region
of 540 something so does it include the interview marks as well…If
possible could you please bifurcate and explain. Also is there some
place where on your site where I may get cut off for all the post.
Thanks in advance
Dear Dushyant,
The cut off which I told you above, is final cut off. Yet, i will try
to make a post regarding distribution of cut offs as per post wise.
DEAR ADMIN,
THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR VALUABLE SUGGESTIONS PROVIDED IN THIS PUBLIC FORUM. I HAVE GOT A GOOD CLARIFY READING YOUR POSTS ON SSC.
COULD YOU PLEASE CALRIFY MY AMBIGUTIES MENTIONED BELOW:-
1. EXPLAIN ABOUT THE NEGATIVE MARKING % FOR THE POSTS – ASSISTANT CSS AND ASSISTANT IN MEA.
2. ADVICE WHETHER A SINGLE CANDIDATE CAN APPLY FOR MULTIPLE SSC POSTS OR ONLY 1 APPLICATION FORM IS ACCEPTED.
3. WHICH OF SSC POSTS ARE BETTER SUITABLE FOR WOMEN . PLS ADVICE FOR ME,
MY QUALIFICATIONS ARE BSC ( MATHS, STATS, COMPUTERS) AND MBA ( FINANCE)
?
THANKS IN ADVANCE.
DEAR ADMIN,
THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR VALUABLE SUGGESTIONS PROVIDED IN THIS PUBLIC
FORUM. I HAVE GAINED A GOOD Clarification READING YOUR POSTS ON SSC.
COULD YOU PLEASE CALRIFY MY AMBIGUTIES MENTIONED BELOW:-
1. EXPLAIN ABOUT THE NEGATIVE MARKING % FOR ALL THE POSTS – UNDER GROUP B AND C.
2. ADVICE WHEN I EXCISE THE MULTIPLE SSC CHOICES ( EXAMPLE – AROUND 10
OPTIONS) WHILE FILLING PART -I, WHICH SUITS MY EDUCATION. HOW WILL SSC
DECIDE THE CANDIDATE TO BE FINALLY SELECTED AMONG THE VARIOUS POSTS SHE
HAS APPLIED?
ONLY FIRST CHOICE ENETERD IN FORM IS ACCEPTED BY SSC OR I WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE ALL THE POSTS ENTERED IN THE FORM.
3. WHICH OF SSC POSTS ARE BETTER SUITABLE FOR WOMEN . PLS ADVICE FOR ME,
MY QUALIFICATIONS ARE BSC ( MATHS, STATS, COMPUTERS) AND MBA ( FINANCE)
?
THANKS IN ADVANCE.
Ah, a good list of queries…..
Well, Siri,
1. Negative Marking for posts in SSC is 1/4 or you can say 0.25 %.
Means, if you make wrong attempt for 4 questions, they will deduct 1
mark straightaway.
2. Filling up of too many options is good when you are not sure about a
particular post. However, SSC release the cut off marks prior to the
examination final result which can simply give an idea regarding where
we stand.
3. I think you do not read the notification thoroughly, SSC has clearly
mentioned, you will be allocated the department according to your marks
in final result along with that they follow certain criteria such as
Age, Date of Birth and Education qualification in case there is a tie
among two candidates. Yes, you are eligible for all the posts
regardless of what your qualifications are. If you are a graduate,
nothing to worry more…..
4. Post suitable for women : Well, this generally depends upon
your decision. If you prefer to be posted nearest to your hometown. You
should seek the post which are most comforting in that manner. If you
are seeking to stay in Delhi, first 5 or 6 posts are good.
Dear Admin,
Please let me know, Does SSC consider / count the details of Software
Work experience ( worked in Private organizations) for the computer
based ssc posts and also for other Group B and C posts while selection
process and interview process which are filled in Application form Part –
I. Tomorrow ( 28/5/2015) being last date for Online application of
part-I, kindly reply on this regard at the earliest.
Thanks
SSC does not pay any attention towards the work done by you in
private sector. If you have any experience in Govt Sector, you may see
some benefits. Still, you can inform them about your work in the part-1
of application form.
Also, at the time of interview, be prepare to answer about your
experience in private sector. They will surely gonna ask you about this.
Dear admin,
Thanks much for the responses. Right now, I am looking for the
postings at / nearby Hyderabad. Please let me know the posts which suits
my hometown Hyderabad irrespective of transfers which are applicable as
per job based in future.
Mam, you not yet mentioned whether you qualified in the SSC exam or
not? if you qualified in the SSC-CGL exam then there are lots of
opportunities that you can take transfer in your choice place. I belongs
to Bihar and also qualified in SSC-CGL and posted in Karnataka as
Inspector of Income Tax. This department is very good for ladies
employee. You can get your posting in Hyderabad also.
Mam, Income tax inspector in CBDT, is a good post. I am from Bihar
and got posted in Karnataka as Inspector of Income-tax, Hubli.
This post is well suited for Ladies candidates as well.
Sir,
If one fills css in top preferences and could not qualify the typing
test, would he be considered for other posts filled below css as
preference, like if I fill railway ministry below css and secure marks
more than cut off for railways but have filled css above in preference
order but fail to qualify typing test will I be considered for railways
now.
Please help me out.
You may be considered for other posts. Yet, the decision lies only
with commission. Typing test or Proficiency test is qualifying in
nature, if you are bit familiar with computer and have knowledge of
word, excel and powerpoint, you can easily clear.
Hi Admin,
Hope Your doing good.
I have a small query. While filling the SSC form, i have given my
first preference as Ministry of Railways and second as Ministry of
External Affairs. I just want to confirm in case my total marks
including interview come as 541 or 550 which is more then the MEA
cutoff. Would they be providing MEA dept to me or Ministry of Railways
which is my first preference as Railways cutoff is less the MEA?
Actually i am interested in MEA but by mistake i filled in Railways as
First preference. Would i be asked to change my preference at the time
of interview?
Thank You
Jitesh Khubchandani
Hi Admin,
I just to want to confirm that are you 100% sure about it or should i
fill the form again with MEA as my first preference? I m bit worried
for the same as this is my last attempt due to age factor. Would there
be any problem if i fill the form again with different preference?
Jitesh,
You can fill the form again if you have not completed the part-II
application form i.e. uploading of photographs, signature and payment of
fees. However, you have done with it, at the time of interview, they
will confirm again from yourself. So be confident and prepare well for
examination.
best of luck !
Well, you need to work really hard for MEA. Also, please make MEA
your first choice. I don’t know how much daily study hours you can
spent. but whenever you study, please put your whole focus on study
only. You also need to have good marks in Maths and English, so work
hard in these two subjects as well.
Sir I want to..*1) know how many times during a foreign posting we
are sanctioned leave to go india….*2)…how may times our family members
are allowed to visit us in the foreign country. ..*3)…is the salary
enough for us if our family also lives with us there….I mean
$2000-$3000..
regards…
Very informative and well-written post. Like the way Admin responds to queries, very articulative.
I am aiming at MEA Assistant (filled it as 1st preference in application form) but not sure if my marks will make up for it.
1. SSC CGL Tier1+Tier2 total=432 marks (UR category)..What all
ministries are possible to get and how much marks in interview are
required for the same?
2. Any place where study material for SSC CGL interview or previous interview questions are provided?
3. My generic inclination is towards Ministerial job. Could u please
suggest a well thought-of preference order keeping in mind both my
choice and marks?
(Interview on Jun 16 2015, so need to be ready with filled up preference forms by 13 Jun 2015 max!)
Many many thanks in advance!
Dear Malsif,
If you see the result for cgl 2013, the last candidate who was
selected for the post of assistant in MEA, has secured 526.50 marks for
UR category. Even the assistant in CSS required 481 marks atleast. IF
you are able to get 50-60 marks in interview, you can consider yourself
eligible to be selected in CSS.
I don’t think there is anybody who is providing interview related
material. You need to prepare it by yourself. Just stick to your biodata
and your educational qualification bcoz most of the questions, they
will ask from this section only. Remembers this is interview cum
personality test only.
Dear Shikhar,
MEA will not take care of your child and relatives. They will only
care about the work which has to be done be you. However all the
charges, fees you will pay for your children, will be fully
reimbursable.
Hello Sir
I have the following queries regarding MEA(Assistant) :
1. Is it possible for me to only go for posting to countries which I
like (e.g. US, Canada, U.K.) and refuse posting to other countries like
Libya, Iraq, Pakistan etc.
2. What is the procedure of applying for a foreign posting. Do we have
to apply separately for each country or we apply for all countries and
give our preferences. Also do we have to apply every year or as and when
vacancies are available ?
3. How to enhance our chances for A+ category countries ? Does getting a
good rank in CGL (my rank could be around 35-40 after interview) or
learning a foreign language of the concerned country guarantee initial
postings to A+ or A countries ?
4. Is it like that in beginning we will only get postings to hard C or C
class countries and only after a certain (say 3 ) years of service we
can expect A or B class countries ? In how much time after joining one
can expect a foreign posting ?
5. Will my children get free education in any country that I like or
only at the country of my posting? What happens when my posting is in
India. Will children get free foreign education at that time also ?
6. If I get a foreign posting, is it possible for me to get another 3
years directly in another country every time or it is occasional? What
is the limit on the no. of consecutive foreign postings that I can get
without coming back to India ?
7. While on foreign posting, how much part of the salary that I got in
India is paid to me . Is it full (i.e basic + da + hra) or is it only
basic? Also can you please tell me the extra salary that we get for
foreign posting for some countries (one each from every category A, A+,
B, C etc. ). As salaries are different for different countries ?
8. Apart from the ones I mentioned, are there any other perks given exclusively to MEA assistants ?
I know these are a lot of questions but please take out some time and
answer these as the information will not only help me but other
aspirants also
Thanks and Regards
Amit KUMAR
Dear amit,
It is far unpredictable to say which country they may ask you to
serve. However, you can seek retention if you intend to do so. In
Countries like Libya, Iraq and others with extreme danger, your tenure
will be counted as double. For salary, i have made other replies in this
regard, please go through them.
In regard to language, it is however desirable by the department to
learn various languages to get posted in various countries. Do not
consider English as a learning language to get posted in America because
nowadays everyone knows English. Also, every posting is only for 3
years. After 3 years you have change the country.
Dear admin thanks for your hard effort for replying all the query…

First of all, Congrats Dinesh….
Well, if you are posted to foreign countries. The educational charges
for your kids must be bear by you only. However, you can claim
reimbursement for both the children. Govt will surely provide
accommodation facility and other amenities if you are going to be posted
in other countries.
Dear admin, thank you for reply on my earlier query… I would like
to request you to kindly clear the picture the some more.. If a 6th or
7th class student is going to abroad than how his study is going to
continue there because he is studying as per Indian education system and
in the abroad will the same education system he is going to follow
there??? is there any Indian college or any special school in abroad for
study of Indian students??? Again when we will come back to Delhi how
difficult it will be to get admission in Delhi school??? Because getting
admission in good school of Delhi is very difficult task and we have to
do it again and again as we will be moving to abroad at regular
basis..So I will request you to kindly reply one more time so I could be
sure about the future of my children.. Thanks
Look Dinesh, Your point of concern is absolutely right and I am
also in the favour of yours. You know Indian schools and foreign
schools, there is a large difference. Once you will admit your child in
those foreign schools, your child may face some difficulties in covering
up the syllabus.
Again, you will be transferred after every 3 years to a new location.
It will not cost you much but your child may suffer a lot. You know a
child studying in USA is far better and intelligent than a child
studying in New Zealand. Because in New Zealand, you will found that the
study pattern is little slow compared to USA. Hence, your child will
face difficulties. Every time he will join a new school, he will realize
OK, yeh to maine already padha hua hai, ya phir use lagega ki school is
running very ahead of him.
That’s why, I do not recommend anyone to take your child to foreign
countries for studies. There are a lot of opportunities but only to
those who are permanently shifted. Those who have transferable jobs,
please take a wise decision.
sir,
i am working in a well reputed central govt dept since last three
years in GP 4600 and i had cleared the CGL 2015. i jst wanted to know
that are they going to give me three year seniority if in case, i join
other department then my parent department.????
thank you
Congratulations Nishant,
I think you wrongly mentioned as CGL 2015 instead of CGL 2014.
By the way, if you are working in Central Govt Department, and the job
which you are going to get in the coming future is also with the Central
Govt, then, obviously your previous service will be counted and all the
perks will be credited to you as per rules.
Be sure that you have proper permissions from the department in such case.

hello…iam preparing for tire 1 CGL SSC..i want to get posted in
ministry of external affairs..could to tell me approximately how many
marks i should score in tire 1 to sail smoothly?
dear admin, thanq very much for your quick replies..
and i have a doubt regarding posting.. well u said that we can get a
chance of posting in regional passport office(RPO) at our home town..is
it really possible..???
You may be posted at the RPO Office but in your hometown. That is
doubtful. Please get it clarified with your nearest RPO office and
consult with some helpful officer there. I think after every 3 years,
there is possibility of getting transfer.
Please get it confirmed first.

Dear Yash,
Please have a look on the last year cut off for SC Category. This
time we are expecting a little bit hike iin the cut off for MEA
assistant.

to this country’s they give me choice of different country or not
Dear Rakesh,
First of All, Many many congratulations for your selection in Ministry of External Affairs.
Well, about your posting date and posting place, I cannot tell you.
It will be best if you ask the MEA persons only. As most of the posting
are taking place recently in many other departments, hopefully, you will
also be posted in the coming days. Please be patient and good luck one
more time.
Also, don’t forget to let us know your posting place.
Regards…
SIr,
i want to the joining procedure and location of training. will i be provided any quarters in Delhi?
i heard that it will take many years to get a quarter, is it true?
I am preparing for UPSC exam also, if i get joining letter now, can i post pone it for a few months?
thank you
Sir,
Can you please shed some light on following
1. Can we take unpaid leave (and for how long) for reasons like UPSC
mains preparation in assistant MEA or for the matter any assistant?
2. What is the maximum extension time we can ask for while joining.
Please reply
Look Vai P, you can take leave but it is the decision which your
boss needs to approve. He can allow you to take leave. but due to work
pressure, he may restrict you from taking any leave. Extension primarily
be given for 30 days but in special circumstances, they may extend to 3
months.
Dear Saksham,
It is very uncommon for the persons serving in foreign countries,
wish to come back in India once they serve in abroad. Most of the
Officers do not wish to come back. Rather they wish to settle in foreign
countries because of the perks which they are getting.
Still, if one wish to come back, Yes, he can. There are some official proceedings for that.
Dear admin. It ws very gratefull that u replied to my comment .can u
please tell me more about annual leave and how often i can visit to
india to meet family members in a year .thankyou
Yes, you are right. Govt has made every arrangement for you only,
not for your parents. So, whatever the benefits you are getting, your
parents may not be able to get. You can take them but not on Govt
expense rather you have to bear each and every expense in keeping your
parents with you.
Regarding the Medical Insurance Facility, you may contact MEA Public Information Officer and get your doubts clarified.
Hello admin sir ,
U r doing a great job sir . A lot of thanks for ur valuable suggestions .
I want to know about the cut off for MEA assistant in tier-1 , tier-2
and interview also. Please give a brief idea about cut offs .
And a lot of thanks in advance sir
Hello Anusha,
If you look at the notification issued by SSC for both the exams you
had descibed, you will find that there is not a single word mentioned in
the notification about kidney transplant.
What they want is that the candidates must be physically fit at the
time of joining a govt. post. So, if you are physically fit and in the
state of working with full strength, then there is no problem at all.
However, SSC do conduct medical examination of the candidates at the
time of joining, so, you must be in good health at that time.
if you are physically fit and doctors are also having no objection, then, you are welcome to join whichever post you want.
Hope this might help you ! Good Luck !
Well, there is no problem at all. If you are good in Competitive
exams, you can work in any Ministry whether its MEA or any other
else.Once you are in the Ministry, you will learn to speak.
There is nothing to fear. …just go for it.
can u explain the work of cypher in a little detail. is it related
to spying? and whether the cyphers are especially posted in a country
with which we have sour relations.
Hi, I am Uma Iyer, my daugher Archana has passed Engineering in
EXTC with Distinction but is a fresher. Will she be able to appear for
the post of Assistant in Ministry of External Affairs in 2016, kindly
reply.
Yes, sure she can apply. She has Engineering degree in EXTC. While
filing the form for SSC CGL, there would not be any option for this
degree. However, going for Electrical Engineering would be better. For
further information in this regard, please call your regional SSC centre
and confirm before filing up the form.
This post has been acquired from the Previous Section of Assitant in Ministry of External Affairs. For new queries / comments please use the comment box below.....
Go for Paper 1 & 2 in Tier II Exam and do not appear in Paper 3 for Statistical Inv. They will not going to judge your performance.
That’s it. Best of Luck !
yes, foreign postings are optional but if the services of an employee is very much required, you cannot post retention to India only. In such cases, you need to move and perform your duties.
However, we are expecting some higher cut off in the next cgl i.e. 2015 combined graduate level exam. because vacancies may be less in the cgl 2015 for the post of MEA assistant.
You will surely get other securities which are entitled to a govt employee in those countries as well.
However, if he is posted in other countries like USA, UK, then, there salary will hike to a great extent and it could touch approx 1 Lakh.
Basically it depends on the country where one is posted.
If one is having an ill family member like you described above, he may be allowed to visit India to look after his family members by applying leave as per Govt Rules. However, it may not be frequently. You will also get Elite class Medical Facilities for yourself as well as the dependent family members.
Another way could be that he can easily notify the condition and emergent situation in written form to his superior officer in the department where he is posted, with a request to hold the posting in other countries and get retained in the present office (in India) only. Please NOTE : There is no COMPULSION to officiate in another countries.
Next, talking about the living condition and facilities in other countries, well it may depend simply upon where one is posted. If one is posted in Pakistan, you may be aware that you may not get that kind of living condition if compared to person posted in USA. But still Govt will take good care of its employees, Govt will provide every amenities which are necessary for a Govt Officer.
However, trips will be arranged by Govt itself if the officer is arriving by following leave rules and leave has been sanctioned by the concerned superior officer. if leave does not get sanctioned and the officer is arriving without consultation and intimation to the department, he has to bear all the charges of traveling.
I hope i am able to clarify most of your doubts. Still have one ? Please go ahead.
can a non-govt employee apply for the post of Assistant in Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)?
if so that how?
if not than what is the procedure and steps to be a Assistant in Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)?
Thank u
There is no such thing that only Govt employees can apply for this post. There is no such limitation. So, any one whether he is working in private sector or in Govt Sector (Public sector), he can easily appear in the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam, which is conducted every year by SSC (Staff Selection Commission) throughout the centres available in India.
If you want to appear for Assistant in MEA post, You need to fill up the application form either offline or online and submit it to SSC. After that, they will conduct pre exam and after that, if you qualify in pre exam, you will be asked to appear in Mains exam. If you qualify in Mains Exam too, you will be asked to appear for Interview.
Once you clear all the stages, you will be allocated a post, based on your merit and your choice of preference.
Don’t afraid about Interview. Its just a personality test. They will simply ask questions from your portfolio, bio-data etc. If you are a govt employee already, they will ask questions relating to previous job etc. They want to judge the candidate whether he is able to deal with public matters.
They may ask about your job preference and why you want to opt them. What future are you seeing in this job. That’s all kind of questions.
Just be prepare from the ground first. Have confidence and go for it.
and has to work for 6 days. A system of 2 days
off and 2 days will be night shift…..so no Sat Sun
like system.”
will you please explain it in detail??…
how is it possible if i work for 6 days in a wweek and get off for 2 days..???
sir,
please elaborate in detail….
You will not be granted leave for Sat and Sun unless it is very emergent. Rather than, you can take leave when other staff will work on behalf of yours. Yes, there is night shifts as well whenever asked to do so.
There is some mistake above, it must be 7 days. Thanks for your suggestion.
However, there are instances when you can complete your work by attending night shifts instead of Saturday and Sunday, because this job is not like other posts, it requires huge attention and dedication towards the work. You will not known when and who will ask you to decode something to grab some important information.
Hope, I clear your doubt. Still have one, please go ahead.
Yes there are a lot of perks available to a govt officer in Mea. You will be living in 3 bhk flat with all amenities available in the house. Your children can get quality education in universities and schools available in there. You will be living a very good life compare to other friends of yours in other departments.
My query is
1. Whether Assistants (General) need to learn a compulsory foreign language?
2. What is the procedure to resign if one gets a job in Group A posts?
Regards,
Roy
If you wish to resign…the same procedures will be followed. Your service will be counted if the next job is also with central Govt.
Also i want to ask that all.those perks like 3bhk flat in foreign, child education etc are real in nature? Means i hope these are not just on papers and on ground level ome has to regret for leaving inspector post.
I am very much attracted by all these perks and will putting this post as 1st pref. So want to be sure if all these perks are really true in practical.
Kindly confirm from some authentic source and reply.
A big thanks in advance and your doing a great job with your eminent guidance.
If you intend to go for this post, you will not going to regret this decision.
Thanks for sharing the information. central government civilian employees means what? who will come under this category? what all companies included? please explain
The main benefit for being a Central Govt Civilian employee, is age relaxation. You can apply for other posts even after normal age restriction.
I WANT TO KNOW THAT OUT OF CSS AND MEA(GENERAL, NOT CYPHER), WHICH ONE IS BETTER IN TERMS OF PRMOTION ASPECTS AND FUTURE CAREER GROWTH. TAKING THESE INTO CONSIDERATIONS, WHICH POST SHOULD I KEEP AS MY FIRST PREFERNECE (PERMANENT STAY IN DELHI NO CONSIDEARION).
THANKS IN ADVACE
I WANT TO KNOW THAT OUT OF CSS AND MEA(GENERAL, NOT CYPHER), WHICH ONE IS BETTER IN TERMS OF PRMOTION ASPECTS AND FUTURE CAREER GROWTH. TAKING THESE INTO CONSIDERATIONS, WHICH POST SHOULD I KEEP AS MY FIRST PREFERNECE (PERMANENT STAY IN DELHI NO CONSIDERATION).
THANKS IN ADVACE
But in terms of promotion and career progression, which is better.
Regards
I would prefer Assistant in CSS post because promotion is good and permanently stay in India (mostly in Delhi).
Can you tell me qualification for applying MEA (CYPHER)…
thank you
Graduation will be the qualification required to appear in MEA (CYPHER) job post.
I highly appreciate you for your inputs. I have some doubts regarding this post i.e Assistant in Ministry of external Affairs.
I wish to stay with my parents in future. Will i be able to take my parents in Foreign postings. Also the salary seems to be less as compared to expenses abroad (For eg. In USA one has to take a compulsory medical insurance). In such cases, how owuld a person sustain with family over there.
Of course you can take your parents along with you while on foreign posting. You can better take care of them when they will be with you and also you can put maximum efforts to your duties. There is hardly any problem on this.
Regarding Salary, Your salary will be fixed according to the cost of living in that country. That will hike to a great extent so that you can fulfill all your needs. Govt will take care of you. You will be provided a good furnished 3bhk flat with all amenities. It would not be very difficult to sustain with family.
Someone told me that Assistants who working in MEA do not have any special privilege in taking their parents with them while they are on a foreign posting. I have no idea regarding what procedure they are following for the candidates studied in USA. For this post, Graduation is must. If you have completed your graduation then you may be permitted but there will be questioning in Interview session about your drop out period.
May be you can apply. But i would suggest you to read out the notification thoroughly. candidates with Colour blindness may not be considered while medical examination.
Best of Luck !
1) Can we surely take our parents, or any brother sisters with us at the expense of government?
2) Can we reach upto Joint Secretary level in MEA?
Because I have heard that CSS is better than MEA compared to promotions aspects
Yes, you can take your parents along with you while on foreign posting.
Second, chances of getting promoted to the post of Joint Secretary for a person joining as Assistant is very less. However, you can consider yourself as one if got promoted quickly. CSS is far better than MEA in my opinion. Yet, the decision is all yours.
First I want you to read out my other post which will help you a lot about understanding both posts.
http://www.anuraglive.in/difference-assistant-css-inspector-income-tax/
However, the difference which I have stated above, is between Assistant in CSS and Inspector of Income-tax, but that will be suffice for your understanding.
Double tenure will only be counted in the countries with extreme danger like libya, Iraq etc. Not all countries will count your tenure as double. Yes, it is counted for promotion. However, you cannot assume that you will be placed on the top of the seniority list.
Could you please elaborate on the work done by Assistants in the MEA? Is it interesting work? I read above that it is preparing reports but what will these reports contain? Also, what is the salary of someone who is posted in Delhi?
Thank you.
Salary will be approx 30-35k initially with a GP of 4600/- in Delhi.
Asst in CSS and CVC are similar posts to some extent.
Assistant in IB is an interesting job if you would prefer to opt for. You will deal with secret operations, confidential information. generally dedicated to the security of the nation.
Under secretary with GP of 5400 is a Group A post.
Is MEA(not cypher) a 5 day job?..I’m a travel freak and a trekker. So weekend two day off is the first requirement for me.And coming to the salary how much one can save on an average,i know it varies from person to person, but i ask this because i have no idea of what all will one be paid for by the govt.
Resignation can be given anytime or is there any bond?
You are thinking too much. Just be calm and relax. Yes it is a 5 day job. I have no idea regarding the working time in other countries if you posted to.
Salary will be enough for living a good lifestyle. I am not saying high class lifestyle. But one can go very well with the salary and perks paid by government.
2. what is best choice in terms of reputation .
3.what is the power facalities of under secetary in css
I understand that you have stated the cut off would be in the region of 540 something so does it include the interview marks as well…If possible could you please bifurcate and explain. Also is there some place where on your site where I may get cut off for all the post.
Thanks in advance
The cut off which I told you above, is final cut off. Yet, i will try to make a post regarding distribution of cut offs as per post wise.
PLS ADVICE FOR ME, MY QUALIFICATIONS ARE BSC ( MATHS, STATS, COMPUTERS) AND MBA ( FINANCE) ?
THANKS IN ADVANCE.
THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR VALUABLE SUGGESTIONS PROVIDED IN THIS PUBLIC FORUM. I HAVE GAINED A GOOD Clarification READING YOUR POSTS ON SSC.
COULD YOU PLEASE CALRIFY MY AMBIGUTIES MENTIONED BELOW:-
1. EXPLAIN ABOUT THE NEGATIVE MARKING % FOR ALL THE POSTS – UNDER GROUP B AND C.
2. ADVICE WHEN I EXCISE THE MULTIPLE SSC CHOICES ( EXAMPLE – AROUND 10 OPTIONS) WHILE FILLING PART -I, WHICH SUITS MY EDUCATION. HOW WILL SSC DECIDE THE CANDIDATE TO BE FINALLY SELECTED AMONG THE VARIOUS POSTS SHE HAS APPLIED?
ONLY FIRST CHOICE ENETERD IN FORM IS ACCEPTED BY SSC OR I WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE ALL THE POSTS ENTERED IN THE FORM.
3. WHICH OF SSC POSTS ARE BETTER SUITABLE FOR WOMEN . PLS ADVICE FOR ME, MY QUALIFICATIONS ARE BSC ( MATHS, STATS, COMPUTERS) AND MBA ( FINANCE) ?
THANKS IN ADVANCE.
Well, Siri,
1. Negative Marking for posts in SSC is 1/4 or you can say 0.25 %. Means, if you make wrong attempt for 4 questions, they will deduct 1 mark straightaway.
2. Filling up of too many options is good when you are not sure about a particular post. However, SSC release the cut off marks prior to the examination final result which can simply give an idea regarding where we stand.
3. I think you do not read the notification thoroughly, SSC has clearly mentioned, you will be allocated the department according to your marks in final result along with that they follow certain criteria such as Age, Date of Birth and Education qualification in case there is a tie among two candidates. Yes, you are eligible for all the posts regardless of what your qualifications are. If you are a graduate, nothing to worry more…..
4. Post suitable for women : Well, this generally depends upon your decision. If you prefer to be posted nearest to your hometown. You should seek the post which are most comforting in that manner. If you are seeking to stay in Delhi, first 5 or 6 posts are good.
Please let me know, Does SSC consider / count the details of Software Work experience ( worked in Private organizations) for the computer based ssc posts and also for other Group B and C posts while selection process and interview process which are filled in Application form Part – I. Tomorrow ( 28/5/2015) being last date for Online application of part-I, kindly reply on this regard at the earliest.
Thanks
Also, at the time of interview, be prepare to answer about your experience in private sector. They will surely gonna ask you about this.
Thanks much for the responses. Right now, I am looking for the postings at / nearby Hyderabad. Please let me know the posts which suits my hometown Hyderabad irrespective of transfers which are applicable as per job based in future.
This post is well suited for Ladies candidates as well.
If one fills css in top preferences and could not qualify the typing test, would he be considered for other posts filled below css as preference, like if I fill railway ministry below css and secure marks more than cut off for railways but have filled css above in preference order but fail to qualify typing test will I be considered for railways now.
Please help me out.
Hope Your doing good.
I have a small query. While filling the SSC form, i have given my first preference as Ministry of Railways and second as Ministry of External Affairs. I just want to confirm in case my total marks including interview come as 541 or 550 which is more then the MEA cutoff. Would they be providing MEA dept to me or Ministry of Railways which is my first preference as Railways cutoff is less the MEA? Actually i am interested in MEA but by mistake i filled in Railways as First preference. Would i be asked to change my preference at the time of interview?
Thank You
Jitesh Khubchandani
I just to want to confirm that are you 100% sure about it or should i fill the form again with MEA as my first preference? I m bit worried for the same as this is my last attempt due to age factor. Would there be any problem if i fill the form again with different preference?
You can fill the form again if you have not completed the part-II application form i.e. uploading of photographs, signature and payment of fees. However, you have done with it, at the time of interview, they will confirm again from yourself. So be confident and prepare well for examination.
best of luck !
how much hard work is require to quilify assistant in MEA?
and how many hours should i study daily?
thanks
regards…
I am aiming at MEA Assistant (filled it as 1st preference in application form) but not sure if my marks will make up for it.
1. SSC CGL Tier1+Tier2 total=432 marks (UR category)..What all ministries are possible to get and how much marks in interview are required for the same?
2. Any place where study material for SSC CGL interview or previous interview questions are provided?
3. My generic inclination is towards Ministerial job. Could u please suggest a well thought-of preference order keeping in mind both my choice and marks?
(Interview on Jun 16 2015, so need to be ready with filled up preference forms by 13 Jun 2015 max!)
Many many thanks in advance!
If you see the result for cgl 2013, the last candidate who was selected for the post of assistant in MEA, has secured 526.50 marks for UR category. Even the assistant in CSS required 481 marks atleast. IF you are able to get 50-60 marks in interview, you can consider yourself eligible to be selected in CSS.
I don’t think there is anybody who is providing interview related material. You need to prepare it by yourself. Just stick to your biodata and your educational qualification bcoz most of the questions, they will ask from this section only. Remembers this is interview cum personality test only.
MEA will not take care of your child and relatives. They will only care about the work which has to be done be you. However all the charges, fees you will pay for your children, will be fully reimbursable.
Yes, there is very good chance for you in MEA.
I have the following queries regarding MEA(Assistant) :
1. Is it possible for me to only go for posting to countries which I like (e.g. US, Canada, U.K.) and refuse posting to other countries like Libya, Iraq, Pakistan etc.
2. What is the procedure of applying for a foreign posting. Do we have to apply separately for each country or we apply for all countries and give our preferences. Also do we have to apply every year or as and when vacancies are available ?
3. How to enhance our chances for A+ category countries ? Does getting a good rank in CGL (my rank could be around 35-40 after interview) or learning a foreign language of the concerned country guarantee initial postings to A+ or A countries ?
4. Is it like that in beginning we will only get postings to hard C or C class countries and only after a certain (say 3 ) years of service we can expect A or B class countries ? In how much time after joining one can expect a foreign posting ?
5. Will my children get free education in any country that I like or only at the country of my posting? What happens when my posting is in India. Will children get free foreign education at that time also ?
6. If I get a foreign posting, is it possible for me to get another 3 years directly in another country every time or it is occasional? What is the limit on the no. of consecutive foreign postings that I can get without coming back to India ?
7. While on foreign posting, how much part of the salary that I got in India is paid to me . Is it full (i.e basic + da + hra) or is it only basic? Also can you please tell me the extra salary that we get for foreign posting for some countries (one each from every category A, A+, B, C etc. ). As salaries are different for different countries ?
8. Apart from the ones I mentioned, are there any other perks given exclusively to MEA assistants ?
I know these are a lot of questions but please take out some time and answer these as the information will not only help me but other aspirants also
Thanks and Regards
Amit KUMAR
It is far unpredictable to say which country they may ask you to serve. However, you can seek retention if you intend to do so. In Countries like Libya, Iraq and others with extreme danger, your tenure will be counted as double. For salary, i have made other replies in this regard, please go through them.
In regard to language, it is however desirable by the department to learn various languages to get posted in various countries. Do not consider English as a learning language to get posted in America because nowadays everyone knows English. Also, every posting is only for 3 years. After 3 years you have change the country.
Is it possible to take my family with me if I posted to other country???
Is service accommodation available for family???

Sir I am a married person and having the children who are studying in 6th and 4th.. please tell me is it possible to take my family on my posting to foreign? Is there any accommodation provided by the service if take our family with us? If we are allowed to take family than what type of education facility will be provided by the service. Do service provide education facility or we have to manage all the things by our-self only

Well, if you are posted to foreign countries. The educational charges for your kids must be bear by you only. However, you can claim reimbursement for both the children. Govt will surely provide accommodation facility and other amenities if you are going to be posted in other countries.
Again, you will be transferred after every 3 years to a new location. It will not cost you much but your child may suffer a lot. You know a child studying in USA is far better and intelligent than a child studying in New Zealand. Because in New Zealand, you will found that the study pattern is little slow compared to USA. Hence, your child will face difficulties. Every time he will join a new school, he will realize OK, yeh to maine already padha hua hai, ya phir use lagega ki school is running very ahead of him.
That’s why, I do not recommend anyone to take your child to foreign countries for studies. There are a lot of opportunities but only to those who are permanently shifted. Those who have transferable jobs, please take a wise decision.
i am working in a well reputed central govt dept since last three years in GP 4600 and i had cleared the CGL 2015. i jst wanted to know that are they going to give me three year seniority if in case, i join other department then my parent department.????
thank you
I think you wrongly mentioned as CGL 2015 instead of CGL 2014.
By the way, if you are working in Central Govt Department, and the job which you are going to get in the coming future is also with the Central Govt, then, obviously your previous service will be counted and all the perks will be credited to you as per rules.
Be sure that you have proper permissions from the department in such case.

First of All, Many many congratulations for your selection in Ministry of External Affairs.
Well, about your posting date and posting place, I cannot tell you. It will be best if you ask the MEA persons only. As most of the posting are taking place recently in many other departments, hopefully, you will also be posted in the coming days. Please be patient and good luck one more time.
Also, don’t forget to let us know your posting place.
Regards…
i want to the joining procedure and location of training. will i be provided any quarters in Delhi?
i heard that it will take many years to get a quarter, is it true?
I am preparing for UPSC exam also, if i get joining letter now, can i post pone it for a few months?
thank you
Can you please shed some light on following
1. Can we take unpaid leave (and for how long) for reasons like UPSC mains preparation in assistant MEA or for the matter any assistant?
2. What is the maximum extension time we can ask for while joining.
Please reply
It is very uncommon for the persons serving in foreign countries, wish to come back in India once they serve in abroad. Most of the Officers do not wish to come back. Rather they wish to settle in foreign countries because of the perks which they are getting.
Still, if one wish to come back, Yes, he can. There are some official proceedings for that.
Please clarify this doubt that what generally happens with Assistants in MEA. If someone wants that his parents always stays with him while he is on a foreign posting even if he is posted in countries like Pakistan, than is it possible?
And also, Sir please clarify that does Government provides any facilities to dependent parents. And if Government does not provide any facility for parents than can the Assistant officer use Medical insurance facility from any insurance company in that foreign country for his parents from his own pocket?
Regarding the Medical Insurance Facility, you may contact MEA Public Information Officer and get your doubts clarified.
U r doing a great job sir . A lot of thanks for ur valuable suggestions .
I want to know about the cut off for MEA assistant in tier-1 , tier-2 and interview also. Please give a brief idea about cut offs .
And a lot of thanks in advance sir
If you look at the notification issued by SSC for both the exams you had descibed, you will find that there is not a single word mentioned in the notification about kidney transplant.
What they want is that the candidates must be physically fit at the time of joining a govt. post. So, if you are physically fit and in the state of working with full strength, then there is no problem at all. However, SSC do conduct medical examination of the candidates at the time of joining, so, you must be in good health at that time.
if you are physically fit and doctors are also having no objection, then, you are welcome to join whichever post you want.
Hope this might help you ! Good Luck !
I am good in competitive English.
But I can’t speak fluently
Can I do this job . if I select
There is nothing to fear. …just go for it.
