Important Duties and responsibilities of Centre Superintendent in conducting the CBSE board examination.

Have you recently joined CBSE as Centre Superintendent ? Is there a duty lying upon you to conduct Board Examinations on various examination centres ? Do you know what you have to do at the examination centre for the smooth conduct of examination? Well, In this article, we are going to discuss the basic duties and responsibilities of a Centre Superintendent while conducting the CBSE Board Examination. We know that there must be many people who wish to become or who have recently joined as a Centre Superintendent in CBSE but do not know anything regarding examination conduct. Here, we will tell you the basic roles of Centre Superintendent, from receiving the question paper to till packing and dispatching the parcel at post office. This article will definitely help a centre superintendent who is going to perform the duty first time in their career.
Conduct of CBSE Board examination involves a great responsibility on the shoulders of Centre Superintendent. Even a small mistake is not tolerable because a single mistake may hamper the whole system. Everyone has to play their role in an effective manner. It is a joint effort work which has to carried out in a combined way. Right from receiving the question paper to sending the parcel through post office dealt with lot of responsibility.
What are the important duties of a Centre Superintendent in conducting of CBSE Board examination -
The main responsibility of conducting of smooth and peaceful examination lie with Centre Superintendent Only. There are numerous guidelines issued by CBSE regarding the conduct of examination, a Centre superintendent must go through all the guidelines thoroughly and the same may also be explained to the Assistant Superintendent who are engaged in the invigilation duty. The main duties and responsibilities of a CBSE Centre Superintendent are discussed below :
1. Meet the Principal : You have to visit the examination centre three days in advance to the commencement of the examination and discuss with the principal of that school where you were appointed as the Centre Superintendent. You can discuss about the working strength of that school.
2. Second duty is the collection of Question Papers: You have to collect question papers for both Class Xth and XIIth and verify the strength which has been given in your appointment order from the Principal. Question papers with graph should be given to the students of class X for mathematics. Log table, trigonometric table etc should also be provided to the students by the Centre Superintendent with his own arrangement.
3. Inspection of Rooms: You have to identify the number of rooms required to be taken for the examination. You have to get them ready for the smooth conduct of examination. Ask the sweepers, caretakers of the school, to get the rooms neat and clean.
      You also have to check the condition of doors and windows and their locking capability because security is somewhat which is absolutely important. If there is any need for replacement, it must be discussed with the Principal as soon as possible and ask him to replace it.
4. Sufficient Supply of Electricity: It is your duty to identify whether there is sufficient availability of Electricity and Cooling to keep the examination running in a smooth way. Check lights and fans of the rooms whether they are working in good condition.
5. Accessories to Carry: You have to prepare different rubber stamps and get them ready before the conduct of examination. Rubber Stamps Like :
  1. Centre Superintendent
  2. Hindi course-A,
  3. Hindi course-B,
  4. Core,
  5. Elective
  6. Facsimile stamp of signature.
Along with the above stamps, you have to prepare a metal seal of your initial for sealing.

6. Office Room : Ask to vacate one room and Mark it as the office of Centre Superintendent in such a way that all other examination rooms have under the visibility of CS.
7. Basic Amenities : Arrange for drinking water in sufficient amount nearer to the examination room. So that the candidates need not to move a long distance. If possible ask the caretaker to provide some four to five persons for delivering the water at the table of the candidates. So that no time could be wasted.
8. Condition of Washroom : You have maintain a healthy condition of the toilet rooms as well, if you found anything which might cause distraction to the candidates, please take note of that matter and discuss it with the principal of that school.
9. Handling of Question Paper: Sufficient care has to be taken while opening the question paper Question paper must be opened at the stipulated time after getting signed by the Assistant Superintendents. It should not be delayed. Instruct the Assistant Superintendent to take good care of question papers. You have to distribute the question paper to all the rooms with continuous set-wise. Remember, I said Set-wise. It is really important.
10. Absent Candidates: Once the question paper has been circulated to the candidates, it is the duty of the assistant superintendent to collect all the question paper where may collect from the rooms with the help of clerk at 11.15 am. All the unused question paper and the question papers of the absentee student should be put into a cover then pasted and sealed immediately with a detailed writeup over the cover such as total number received, total used and the balance number of question paper inside the sealed cover.
11.Bell Timing : It is the duty of the Centre Superintendent to instruct the Clerk of that school, to ring bell at a certain interval of time and alert the students about timing.
12. Health Issues related to Students : If any student feeling unwell during the examination hour and needs instant hospitalization, such cases must be be handed over to the principal of that school immediately for getting proper treatment. However, timing may be further extended for such students so that they can appear once they get back to school after treatment. A report in this regard may be submitted to the Regional officer for information.
13. Stopping Unfair Means : A Centre Superintendent can do a physical checking of the candidates to stop any type of unfair means in the examination. While checking, a lady teacher should be engaged in the physical checking of girls children taking care of human right at all levels.
14. Last but most important : The wrapping up of examination must be done in the presence of Centre Superintendent. this includes packing, sealing, organising the answer books and get them ready to be dispatched to the CBSE.
